Auto-filling from the record a screen sits on

When a screen is placed on a record — a service call, an activity, an equipment — it can scope itself to that record with no configuration by the person using it. They open the tab and the answer is already there.

   Tick the field

   In the field dialog, mark the field as auto-filled from the host record. The screen then takes its value from whatever record it is opened on.

   Decide how visible it is

   The field can be locked, hidden, or left editable. Locked is usually right: showing which record you are scoped to is reassuring, letting somebody change it by accident is not.

   Publish it where the record lives

   Auto-fill only means something if the screen is placed on a record. Publishing a screen as its own extension lets you put it on the tabs and panels where those records already are.
